Brigitte Bardot was one of the most iconic movie stars of all times. From movie star to animal’s rights defender her fame has travelled along the years and she is now still an icon not only because of her activism or the roles she played on the big screen but especially because of her timeless style.

Bardot’s looks have inspired millions of women around the world and they are still as trendy as they were back in the 50s and the 60s. If you play a close attention to some of the trends today they were originated by this iconic bombshell. Here’s a few timeless style points as fashionable today as decades ago on BB’s look:

1 Keep it simple!

The simple, the better. The less accessories you put on an outfit the more it shines. Too many accessories are often too much, especially when not well combined or when not adequate to the person who is wearing them. The accessories can be powerful weapons to personalize a look but they have to be used carefully and moderately. Bardot’s main accessories were the makeup and the hair and to let that style lead the accessories on the outfit had to be kept to a minimum. Therefore small details such as a few bracelets, diamond or pearl earrings, maybe a ring or two are the enough to enhance the best thing about this style: you!

2 Dance through life!

Bardot was a ballet dancer and as such she loved ballet flats. At at time when a lady always used heels, Bardot dared to be very feminine and sexy in ballet flats or just bare footed as she was often seen. Ballet flats are nowadays one of the most feminine and chic pieces of a wardrobe and can be used by any woman any age.

3 Mind the details!

The cropped “see ankle” pants are a must for every woman on every season. You get the most out of it when you combine them with footwear that let the ankles breath. Tennis are perfect for a relaxed casual style, sandals are feminine and work both for casual relaxed or casual chic looks, pumps are the best option for a chic outfit and ballet flats are very feminine and flattering, at the same time relaxed and chic. The small detail of leeting the ankle breath makes all the difference on a look.

As Bardot you can choose a printed or patterned cropped pants style to give you a more feminine, edgy and summerish look.

4 Embrace the summer!

Saint-Tropez was never the same after this iconic woman has visited it. Bardot was a beach lover and her skin was constantly tanned. The western world has this love to be tanned passion. Indeed the tanned look may help people appear more healthy (when used with moderation) and it also gives you a younger look since it the cheek colors will naturally pop up.

5 Get Cat Eyes!

This was one of the most iconic marks of BB. She liked to wear a heavy dark eyeliner to enhance her eyes and make them look like a wild animal’s eyes. This eye contouring can make the eyes pop up when applied accordingly with one’s complexion. Smoky eye looks are a timeless style mark both with light neutrals during the daytime to make your eyes shine or with darker shades for the evening to make your eyes vibrate. The secret for a good smoky is blend, blend, blend and the secret for the cat eye look is to create that eyeliner line either thick or thin but always with the edge a bit sharper to create the lifting eye effect which suits everybody!

6 Let your hair be!

Last, but not least another signature of this style was the wild hair. Either on top of the head, or with beautiful braids or just untamed and free, the hair has to be long and natural. Let it breath, let it be! The messy style can be created by either not blow drying it or doing it with the head facing down or using braids and then setting it free. This shade of gold color is like a journey to the childhood and it is quite fashionable these days with the sun highlights or the Californian hair color style.

These are the main timeless characteristics of Brigitte Bardot’s iconic style.
